| 160mm | 108g | 104g | 95g | -13g |
Rigorous Stress Testing & Finite Element Analysis
To validate the safety and mechanical reliability of the 0-AERO's innovative composite architecture, the design undergoes exhaustive simulated and mechanical stress testing:
-
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): The structural core and carrier interfaces are optimised using advanced FEA software to map stress distribution (ESTRN) across the braking track and mounting rivets under extreme load. This precise mapping ensures maximum structural integrity while allowing non-critical material to be trimmed for weight savings.
-
Destructive Lab Testing: Physical prototypes are subjected to rigorous machine-driven dyno testing, driving the disc to extreme thermal capacities to simulate high-speed mountain descent clamping force. The hardware is structurally proven to sustain heavy high-torque friction without material failure, delamination, or loss of concentricity.
CFD Aerodynamic Appearance & Reinforced Support
The 0-AERO features a specialised aesthetic optimised directly through CFD modelling to streamline airflow around the wheel hub and minimise wind resistance. To make the entire package lighter and stronger simultaneously, the central support structure has been meticulously reinforced. This ensures that the rotor remains unyielding under immense clamping forces, easily handling tested structural torque limits up to 130Nm.
Thermal Control & Proven Durability
The braking friction surface uses premium SUS420 stainless steel that undergoes an advanced heat-treatment process to maximise surface hardness and log superior wear metrics. This technology allows the rotor to hit a thermal deformation threshold of 500°C without risk of warping or losing alignment.
This ensures complete stability under the immense kinetic energy transferred when stopping a 100KG rider mass from 60km/h down to a full standstill in 5 seconds flat.
Configuration & Brake Pad Guidelines
To cater to different budget and performance targets, the 0-AERO is split into two distinct variants, each packaged with specific hardware components:
-
Aluminium Alloy Version: Shipped as the raw rotor unit (without a lock cover included).
-
Carbon Fibre Version: Shipped as a complete system, fully bundled with its matching lock cover and dedicated CenterLock base adapter componentry.
💡 PERFORMANCE PAD RECOMMENDATION: For optimal braking force, clean leverage, and consistent bite characteristics, the use of high-performance metal brake pads (such as Shimano L04C) is highly recommended. Thanks to the heat-treatment technology on the friction track, riders can push these pads hard without worrying about premature durability issues.
